THE SHENENDEHOWA PLAINSMEN made their first appearance in the Section Two Championship Game since winning two championships in three years{1994 &1996} in the mid nineties. The young Plainsmen team, whose only losses were mired in defensive laspses, fought their way out of a third place "hole{ only the fourth time in 15 seasons the Plainsmen had not captured the Suburban Council championship} and a # 4 seed in the Suburban Council Tournament to go on to win the Suburban Council Tournament Championship. They went on to win three playoff games{the most since 1996} only to lose the Class AA Championship in extra innings, in heartbreaking fashion!! The 16-5 Plainsmen return 17 players from the 2005 roster and will again be contenders for a Section Two Championship. SHEN WINS FIRST ANNUAL SUBURBAN COUNCIL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP.............. The 2005 Shen Baseball Team defeated Colonie 10-6 in eight innings, Monday May 16th, avenging earlier tough defeats at the hands of the Garnet Raiders. A bullpen by committee approach was used by the Plainsmen Coaching staff in preparation for the upcoming Section Two Class AA playoffs. Andrew Mondo.,Murphy Smith, Dave Skumurski, and Jimmy Reese held the Colonie team to 6 runs and 8 hits in the extra inning tilt. Heroics were provided by a Timmy Jones dramatic two out RBI double in the bottom of the 7th inning to keep the Plainsmen alive and later in the 8th inning Matt Frey`s game winning RBI and a Greg Blass three run homer proved to be the one two punch that won the game and provided the momentum and the right psychology for the upcoming playoffs!!
