In the spring of 2011, John Coletta joined the Shenendehowa Baseball Program as the Freshman Head Coach. As a former player in the Shenendehowa baseball program in 1997 &1998, Coach Coletta played on the freshman and junior varsity baseball teams as a center fielder and first baseman. During his junior and senior year his efforts were focused towards Varsity Basketball.
Graduating from Shen in 2000, Coach Coletta continued his education at SUNY Cortland where he graduated in the spring of 2004 with his B.S. in Physical Education. Later that year he was hired by Shenendehowa as a high school physical education teacher. During his time at SUNY Cortland, he was a member of the Boy’s Track and Field team in 2001-2003 and a member of the Boy’s XC Running team in the fall of 2002. Coach received his Masters in Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment from Walden University in 2008.
During the spring of 2004 Coach Coletta was hired as the Junior Varsity Baseball Coach for the Onondaga Tigers at Onondaga Central Schools in Central New York.
While at Shenendehowa, Coach Coletta has been coaching Boy’s Junior Varsity Volleyball since the fall of 2004. Some of his accomplishments in the volleyball program include undefeated seasons in 2009 & 2010. He has recently been appointed as the Head Boy’s Volleyball coach where he led the 2011 team to their first sectional final appearance. In his time at Shenendehowa, Coach Coletta also served as a volunteer assistant for the Boy’s Varsity Basketball team in the 2004-2005 seasons. In the years 2006-2009 Coach Coletta was an Assistant Boy’s Outdoor Track and Field coach where he focused on the development of sprinters, long and triple jumpers.
During the 2011 season the plainsmen worked towards many positive personal and teams goals. The freshman team led the suburban council with a record of 13-3. Some of their other accomplishments include scoring 176 runs and giving up only 55. They are looking forward to another year of achievement and success.
Coach Coletta resides in Waterford with his Wife Colleen and their two sons Jackson and Caleb.
