Final 2013 Suburban Council League Standings
The Shenendehowa Plainsmen completed the regular season by going
9-1 in Northern Divisional Play and 13 -3 in Suburban Council
competition. The Northern Divisional record captures the Divisional Title
and ranks them second in the Suburban Council League standings. Overall,
the Plainsmen recorded a very successful 17 – 3 record in regular season play.
On Saturday, May 18th the Shenendehowa Baseball
program recognized the senior baseball players and their families for their
contribution to baseball at Shenendehowa and to the Clifton Park-Halfmoon
communities. A special ceremony was presented before the first pitch of
the Queensbury game played at Plainsmen Park. The well attended event and
well executed game was witnessed by a very supported crowd that came out on the
beautiful spring day. Chicken barbeque dinners were prepared and sold as
a fundraiser for the program. The dinners were prepared by The Meat House
in Clifton Park.
The game itself was a pitching staff dual between Queensbury and
Shenendehowa. But in the bottom of the 6th with the bases
loaded and 1 out, the Plainsmen executed a perfect suicide squeeze play to put
a run on the board. The Shenendehowa staff then pitched a scoreless 7th
inning for the home team to secure the victory! Overall is was a
beautiful day in addition to the JV squad playing their game before the
varsity. The JV team also was successful with a
8 – 2 win over the Queensbury squad.
The SHEN coaching staff would like to thank the Dugout Club, the
Dugout Club Officers, the Freshman Baseball team for assisting and handling the
dinner
fundraiser and everyone that helped out in making our 2013
Senior Recognition Day a great success! Everyone’s collective efforts are
truly appreciated!

As some may have heard we have been trying for some time to
obtain the use of a golf cart to be used as a shuttle for folks from the HS
west parking lot to the field and as needed for some bathroom trips. The trip
from the lot to the field can be a challenge for some of our spectators. I
would like to thank the folks at Mohawk Honda for donating the use of a Club
Car golf cart for us to use during the season. They have been extremely
generous and supportive to our program. I would also like to thank Mr. Culnan
for agreeing to cover the insurance for the golf cart.
The cart will be stored in the shed and for Varsity Games
Dave Waldek and Mike Vyce will be responsible for either driving the cart or
assigning a parent volunteer and for JV myself or April Douglas will have the
same responsibility. If you are interested in
driving the cart please contact one of us.
The school has agreed to cover
the insurance and the vehicle is on loan from Mohawk Honda for the season so I
would like to return it in as good a condition that they lent it.
Apparel was distributed this
week and the only item you may not have received is the shorts. The shorts were
on back order and will be coming in soon. If you have any issues with your
order please contact me. In addition we do have some of the white "the
game" hats like the players are wearing as well as a few of the grey ones.
Let me know if you are interested in purchasing any.
Also at meet the team night we handed out tickets for
everyone to sell for the Senior Night/ The Meat house cookout. Ticket prices
are $10 each. Although the freshman team will be responsible for organizing the
event in order to make it a success everyone will need to sell their tickets.
We would like to have all the money from the sales of tickets turned in to your
team parent by Friday May 10th so we can start to get a final count. If you
need any additional tickets please contact me.
