A Brief History:
 The history of the Shenendehowa Baseball program dates back to a rural school district in Clifton Park, NY. The year is 1955 and the baseball program is formed to compete against local schools. Paul Quigley is the school`s first coach and a year later he takes the basketball program. Don Van Vleet is hired out of Springfield College in `55 and becomes the district`s second coach in the Spring of 1956. Coach Van Vleet guided the Plainsmen to a record of {325-238{.577}} with multiple league titles and two Sectional Championships in 1979 and 1984. Coach Van Vleet retired in 1990. Each year at our End of the Season Team Banquet a scholarship ward is given to a senior reflecting Coach Van Vleet long and distinguished career at Shenendehowa. James E. Carrese was appointed Head Coach of Baseball in 1991. Carrese`s current 21 season record is 333-157 {.680}. Coach Carrese has guided the Plainsmen to two Section Two Championships in 1994 & 1996. Two Regional Championships in `94 & 96 and in 1996 Shenendehowa was the Class A Finalist. Shenendehowa has won 16 Suburban Council Championships in the 21 years Carrese and his staff have guided the program. Additionally his staff has produced 80 College baseball players and 9 Professional contracts. Murphy Smith `06 is currently in the Oakland A`s organization. In 2011 the Shenendehowa Baseball program earned the NYSPHSAA Academic State Champion award as the top performing academic baseball in team in NYS out of 700 schools participating. In 2009 and 2010 Shenendehowa Baseball Alumni Dan Peltier {`86-ND-Texas Rangers-San Fransisco Giants} and Jim Bendick {`74-Milwaukee Brewers-Union College} were inducted into the Shenendehowa Athletic Hall of Fame.
