The 2010 Baseball season at Shenendehowa High School is fast becoming a "groundbreaking" and exciting challenge for our Players, Parents , Alumni and Alumni families. We have undertaken a new Varsity Field project upgrade that began in March of 2009. Under the leadership of our new Athletic Director Chris Culnan and Coach Carrese we have begun the first steps of turning the Plainsmen Field into the finest High School field in Section Two.
The first step was a $ 13,000 investment in a permanent Baseball fence. The fence is complete with Shen green windscreen, foul poles and a fence cover for the top. What a dramatic departure from the snow fence that has graced that field since the 70`s. I`m sure some of you can remember! Our next step is the construction of new Dugouts for the first and third baselines. Our picture Gallery at www.shenbaseball.com has all the photos on display of the demolition of the Dugouts this past November. We are initiating a "Buy a Block Program" to fundraise for not only the construction of the two new Dugouts, but also future Plainsmen Field renovation projects. Those future projects include the following:
- Electronic Scoreboard
- Championship Banners for the Outfield windscreens
- Renovation of the Champioship Board located behind the backstop
- Perimeter fencing for a enclosed park
- Reconstruction of the two boxed in bullpens to the Right and left Field corners
- Permanent fencing for the two Hitting cages behind the 3B Home Dugout
- Resurfacing of the Hitting cages floor
- Field maintainence equipment for team use
- Construction of a Concession Stand and Spotter`s Stand and Video Platform between Home Bleacher
- Renovation of Roll Away Hitting Cage
- Custom Dugout setup. {includes Coaches station-greaseboard-players cubbies and more}
- Sound System for Home games-tournaments and Sectional contests {music and PA}
- Field Lights for Night games at the Plainsmen Field
Buy a Block!
When you as a Alumni, family of a Alumni player, or current player-parent in the Program purchase a "Block" you will have your name or information screened onto the "Block" as a permanent reminder of your loyalty and dedication to the Shenendehowa Baseball Program. We envision our Alumni coming back to a game with their family and everyone gathering around the Dugouts to see where their dedicated "Block" is. Please fill out the information and print out the completed information with your specific donation amount and mail it to the address enclosed.
